After a week of filth and hate. I needed to settle down for a few days just to recover from bile-fest 2004 at The Garden
I won't bore you cats for too long today. I just wanted to illustrate to you if you ever needed proof about the future of our nation all you need do is read the Keynote speeches of the two parties.
There was the
eloquent Obama who spoke about all that is good about our nation and what we can do to make it better:
"If there is a child on the south side of Chicago who can’t read, that matters to me, even if it’s not my child. If there’s a senior citizen somewhere who can’t pay for their prescription drugs, and has to choose between medicine and the rent, that makes my life poorer, even if it’s not my grandparent. If there’s an Arab American family being rounded up without benefit of an attorney or due process, that threatens my civil liberties.
It is that fundamental belief, it is that fundamental belief, I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sister’s keeper that makes this country work. It’s what allows us to pursue our individual dreams and yet still come together as one American family.
E pluribus unum. Out of many, one.
Now even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters, the negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes. Well, I say to them tonight, there is not a liberal America and a conservative America — there is the United States of America. There is not a Black America and a White America and Latino America and Asian America — there’s the United States of America."
Then there was
the Miller speech, that a reporter for Time Magazine said
"was the ugliest speech" he ever saw:
"Together, Kennedy/Kerry have opposed the very weapons system that won the Cold War and that is now winning the War on Terror.
Listing all the weapon systems that Senator Kerry tried his best to shut down sounds like an auctioneer selling off our national security but Americans need to know the facts.
The B-1 bomber, that Senator Kerry opposed, dropped 40 percent of the bombs in the first six months of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The B-2 bomber, that Senator Kerry opposed, delivered air strikes against the Taliban in Afghanistan and Hussein's command post in Iraq.
The F-14A Tomcats, that Senator Kerry opposed, shot down Khadifi's Libyan MIGs over the Gulf of Sidra. The modernized F-14D, that Senator Kerry opposed, delivered missile strikes against Tora Bora.
The Apache helicopter, that Senator Kerry opposed, took out those Republican Guard tanks in Kuwait in the Gulf War. The F-15 Eagles, that Senator Kerry opposed, flew cover over our Nation's Capital and this very city after 9/11.
I could go on and on and on: against the Patriot Missile that shot down Saddam Hussein's scud missiles over Israel; against the Aegis air-defense cruiser; against the Strategic Defense Initiative; against the Trident missile; against, against, against.
This is the man who wants to be the Commander in Chief of our U.S. Armed Forces?
U.S. forces armed with what? Spitballs?
Twenty years of votes can tell you much more about a man than twenty weeks of campaign rhetoric.
Campaign talk tells people who you want them to think you are. How you vote tells people who you really are deep inside.
Senator Kerry has made it clear that he would use military force only if approved by the United Nations.
Kerry would let Paris decide when America needs defending."
A few points. Recent information has been discovered
that Miller spew apparently was based on an internet chain email hoax that was being passed around trashing Kerry. An email that is correct about two things:
A) Kerry is a Senator
B) He is from Massachusetts
Another point, Fact checker.org (Thank you Right Wing Rat fan who gave us the heads up about this site but for another reason) does
a damn fine job of debunking Miller lies about Kerry.
And finally MANY of the same weapons programs that Miller and the Republicans are screaming bloody murder about were same plans that McCain and
then Representative DICK...Cheney voted against!
That gang sums up what this election is about. The
vision of Obama versus the
hate and lies of Miller.
Read the two speeches. Then ask yourself which America do you want? An America govern by fear and smear. By lies. An America were they appeal to our prejudices and ignorance?
Or do you want an America that challenges us? That appeals to our better angels. An America were we are united as one?
A long time ago my Mom and I went to a rally in Washington. I was a kid, I forget how old. But I remember one of the chants we did as it was yesterday:
"A people..United...can never be defeated"
Read
Obama.
Read
Miller.
