DATELINE: NYC....: FLY SHIT IN THE SUGAR BOWL...AND...THIS MOUNTAIN'S MY HOME

Tuesday:

There I was.

The Angry liberal wanting to shout with my protesting brothers!

Instead, I was the professional worker assisting the working class heroes.

While I, worked with "the man" making sure we kept the peace.

I was in agony.

I wanted to scream to the heavens to our God. Begging him to forgive us, for the crimes that are committed in our name!

But alas, duty calls and all I could do was work with my working class heroes ensuring the cries for freedom were heard in peace.

I call the NYPD, the working class heroes, cause that IS what they are. The cops I worked with this week, are good men. We may disagree on the issues political but these citizens are about serving and protecting. Despite what some of my left wing brethren may feel the working class heroes are just hard working people struggling to survive, Surviving to struggle.

On the most part the people I have been working with are intelligent thoughtful humans. They just want to do good. They want to protect. They KNOW their gig pays lousy. Yet they will stand at their post and do their job. They are what best in America. Even if they feel the Right wing falsely has their back, they will do best for the people they protect. They are not evil. They are good Americans.

But, there I was. With my working class brethren side by side. People who care about what's best for their families and homes. Not about ideology. Ask the widower of a Police officer or welfare worker if her husband or wife gave a rat's ass about gay marriage.

They just want to do their best for their love ones.

As Americans that is all we ask.

I knew my working heroes would not approve of my beliefs. Nor did I care. We live in America.

It troubled me hearing some of their comments.

I had a profound sense of sadness seeing our young people protesting, 3 years ago, some were using empty paint buckets digging, WITH the police, for our 9/11 lost ones. The "anarchist", of today, was the good citizen on 9/11/01. I know.
I was that good citizen/"anarchist" of today.

I was that cat on 9/13/01 digging and on 8/29/04, marching, trying reclaim our country.

How did WE get divided?

3 years ago, we worked side by side to save lives.
Now, we're locked down in plastic cuffs, by the same hands who gave me water and thanks.

How did this happen?

This is our American tragedy.

Wednesday:

We had a rally today.

My UNION FIGHTING FOR ME!! We took the streets! We set up video screens!

We had celebrities! DANNY GLOVER WAS THERE! They were fighting for ME and my brothers and sisters!

Then, there was Steve Earle....

"I was born on this mountain, this mountain's my home
She holds me and keeps me from worry and woe
Well, they took everything that she gave, now they're gone
But I'll die on this mountain, this mountain's my home "-Steve Earle

I met Steve Earl today.

He was a nice enough cat. I thanked him for his music and for what he's trying to do.

He sang about the mountain that was the home of the coal miner. For a kid from Brooklyn, raised in Queens. I could only think about the housing project that's was home to many of my friends and family.

The coal mines of West Virginia. The company mines. Are the same as "city job" that I have.
I work for the man. And I shop in the man' s store. Only difference is. The man in NYC is not as honest as the man who owns the coal mine.

The man who own's the coal mines tells you up front "your my bitch"

The man from NYC fools you to thinking you are totally free.

More alike then different we are.

Steve Earl, I feel, understand America NEEDS A revolution. A revolution of thought, ideas and attitude.

Attitude that the homeboy from the Bronx, at his core, wants what the good ole boy from Virginia wants.

Our American dream fulfilled.

"Got a boss? Get a union"-Steve Earle

Ever since I bought his CD, I think I get were he was coming from. Call it an epiphany. (Yeah it's weak but maybe that's what it was.) He's just a working class kid from the country who gets what this working class kid from the city is about. We get fucked by the man...

I wonder at what point do we, who struggle, understand that the dude from West Virginia HAS THE SAME ISSUES as the dude from Brooklyn?

We ARE Americans. Yeah I know that sound cliche but that's a fact! Its not about Red states or blues states with that cat who trying to pay his kid's bills! DO you think WE really give a shit about gay marriage when we don't know if we can pay for our kids school supplies?

The cat from the mountain who preaches to about getting fucked by the owner of the company mine is just as much my brother as kewl breeze from the "40 projects" is trying to get a city job.

We HAVE the same values! We have the same LOVE of nation. Yes, I am pro-choice but that doesn't make me any less of an American as you who is anti-choice!..Its OK to be anti-choice. You feel that God's gift is so precious that you would not sanction the murder of innocence. That I will never argue but you must understand that the child killer has just as much as a right to life as the innocent child. Cause it is the Lord our God who says "Thou shall not KILL" and "Vengeance is mine".

They are not cliches if you trust in the Lord.

We, as Americans, are not that different.

We disagree in the direction it's going.

But there is ONE irrefutable truth:

We love our nation

One day.

I hope I live long enough to see.

The Anarchist of today, sharing a beer with the today's cop. And they chuckle about how at one time during a hot day in NYC they fought about the same thing,

How much WE love America.

"I was born on this mountain, this mountain's my home
She holds me and keeps me from worry and woe
Well, they took everything that she gave, now they're gone
But I'll die on this mountain, this mountain's my home "-Steve Earle

"I was born in the city, the city's my home.
She holds me and keeps me from worry and woe
Well, they took everything she gave, now they're gone
But I'll die in this city, this city my home"-Spanner

More alike then different.....

"WHATEVER THE FUCK IT MEANS" OR "DUMBASS" QUOTE OF THE DAY

This one is so bizarre that it falls in two categories. So we'll let you decide which. So it so weird you can't tell or is it simply stupid:

"Had we had to do it over again, we would look at the consequences of catastrophic success—being so successful so fast that an enemy that should have surrendered or been done in escaped and lived to fight another day."-George Bush

DATELINE: NYC....I WAS IN THE BELLY OF THE BEAST

I know a couple Republicans. I actually dated a couple. Nice women all, but clearly unaware of what a REAL or at least what the Republicans are currently about.

The ladies in question have moderate views about the world, they care about people. One was pro-choice the other has sympathetic views about social justice. Hell in fact she once told me she felt Obama WOULD be president one day. That was AFTER she told me she WAS voting for Bush.

My point is in all intent and purposes you can call them moderate Republicans. In New York we have many of those. I call them wild eyed dreamers. They THINK that represent the majority view of that party. You may seen a couple last night on TV. They dragged out John McCain. They dragged out Mayor Rudy Guliani (Note: Please if you ever get the chance ask a few my brothers from the Bronx and Brooklyn about how they feel about Guliani PRIOR to 9/11. OR better yet ask his ex-wife) America's mayor was NOT the mayor for ALL of New York. That's a story for another day and we get the last laugh when he tries to run for nation wide office as a pro-choice Republican. Today they will drag out that sexual harasser, Arnold Schwarzenegger, to show America their false face. Their "compassionate" face. Their bullshit face. People, don't believe the hype. "Moderate" Republicans are NOT the true face of that fucking party.

So I never really saw what a REAL Republican is face to face. Until today.

I had the great misfortune of actually working around the convention yesterday. I wont go in to detail about what I was doing but suffice to say it put me face to face with those bastards. My first view of a Republican actually was a hot babe I saw on 9th Ave. She looked at me rather meekly then waked away scurrying off to the Garden. For a second I thought damn that girl is hot. Then I realize she supports a man who is bombing innocent children and sending off young men against their will to commit atrocities in our name (I never have and I never will blame soldiers in combat for anything they do during war. You do what you gotta do to stay alive).

How can I look upon these people with any sort of compassion? They represent the true power of the Republican party. They ARE the rank and file. They ARE the ones who support voter intimidation. They ARE the ones who will vote for Bush regardless of the fact he froze while our nation was under attack. They could careless about his incredibly bad record on the economy. The could careless about our environment. They could careless about social justice ESPECIALLY FOR OUR CHILDREN!

That sweet innocent looking young lady that I wanted to be with may have a face the party would hope America believes IS what the Republicans are about. But most of the faces I saw on 34th St. yesterday. Were ugly individuals who knew they weren't wanted and frankly didn't want to be here.

Ugly not physically (Althouh a couple delegeates from Utah were looked pretty nasty..Yeesh) but spiritually. Ugly in thatthey endorse the use of religion as a political tool. They endorse the politics of fear and smear. They endorse using our precious natural resources for their economic gain and not for the benefit of our children to use in the years to come.

Their souls are ugly with hate and contemt for America. They see only what they want to see. However this week, despite all their efforts, they are seeing something else.

No matter how hard they tried to maintain their tunnel vision. A trick that they have mastered so well from their homes in Virginia and Texas. Here in the streets of New York its not that easy to turn a blind eye. When every other person walking around, or sidewalk had on something to show their displeasure with your party and man.

The president has a habit of suppressing dissent at all of his events. Squirreling away dissenters into a corner some were. A childish act of "out of sight out of mind". But in my town "homie don't play that". This is a town built on dissent and is DAMN PROUD of its history of dissension. Over 80% of New Yorkers SUPPORT the protest that have been going on over the last few days. Half a MILLION of us marched against Bush on Sunday! Sorry Mister pRez you can throw all of us in your fucking cubby hole as if we didn't exist! This isn't midland Texas were your shock troops do your bidding. This is NYC jack! When the PEOPLE want to say something WE FUCKING SAY IT! No matter what THE MAN WANTS!

The Republicans are getting a taste of something that normally Bush and his band of assholes are able to control. Keep it nice and neat. Not this week. Not here. Signing a loyalty oath so you can SEE The President of the United States will not play here. You will NOT be able to hide protestors miles away in back streets somewere. No. They are right across the right across the street from that building and WE WILL BE HEARD. If not by you but by your rank and file as they shuffle past the hissing crowd. Since they like to give it, especially to us in NYC, they will feel and KNOW what contempt is.

So enjoy your party Republicans. Keep fooling America with your RINOS (Republicans In Name Only...That's aterm made up by the FAR RIGHT WING not I) but know this. On our city streets, now that I walked among you. You aint foolin no one.

YOU AIN'T FOOLIN ANYONE QUOTE OF THE DAY AND AS A BONUS THE "THAT'S RIGHT WE LOVE OUR COUNTRY TO ASSHOLE" QUOTE

''They chose New York, where they're universally hated. 'They should have gone somewhere they're more welcome. They exploited 9-11 by having it in New York at this time.''-Laurie Russo, 41, of Queens.

And from the NY Daily News:

"Pro-Bush hecklers standing behind the police barricades near W. 33rd tried to drown out the anti-Bush chants by yelling 'U.S.A.! U.S.A.!' But when the protesters joined in their chant, the hecklers were stumped for what to do next."

DATELINE: NYC....WE TOOK OVER THE STREETS

Think the opening credits for the movie THE WARRIORS.

How the gangs of New York gathered on the subway platforms on their way to the meeting in the Bronx at Van Cordtlandt Park. To see and hear the legendary leader of the biggest gang ion NYC Cyrus. Cyrus would preach to all the gangs that night, if they all united they could take over the city streets. All though he was misguided, in his message meant taking over the crime operations of NYC, his overall message of UNITY was sound. A people united can never be defeated. That night in Van Cordtlandt Park, the gangs were buying into his message. Then he was shot, by Luther, the leader of the Rouges who try to pin it on the gang from Coney Island. The Warriors.

That's how it felt this morning when I entered the subway station. All along the platform were my brothers and sisters against Bush. Just like the gangs of New York converged that night. They were easily identifiable by their garments. Each wore a symbol..badge of honor.. Labeling as one of our family. We weren't going to see Cyrus. Our problem was, Luther wasn't the leader of the Rouges anymore. He was the pResident of the United States.

Every stop on the short ride to Union Square more and more of our family hopped on. I knew today would be a special event. Its 9:30AM the train is packed and the rally DOESN'T start until noon. The people on trains weren't shopping to take advantage of Tax free week. No. The people on our trains were about sending the rat bastards a message:

NOT IN OUR HOUSE.

Thousands and I means thousands (Some place the number as high as a half a million) of us took the streets of Manhattan. All in peace, all marching up to the Garden to let the SCUM know they weren't welcomed in our home.

The signs we carried expressed our anger:

AXIS OF ASSES,

NO BLOOD FOR OIL,

SOME WERE A VILLAGE IN TEXAS IS MISSING AN IDIOT

WAR CRIMINAL

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, VOTE KERRY

And withour chants:

HEY HEY HO HO BUSH AND CHENEY HAVE GOT TO GO

ITS HOT..ITS HUMID..THE PRESIDENT IS STUPID

WHAT DO WE WANT?

BUSH OUT!

WHEN DO WE WANT IT?

NOW!

WHAT DO WE WANT?

BUSH OUT!

WHEN DO WE FUCKING WANT IT?

NOW!!!!

But underneath the anger and hatred. Was love. A deep and profound love for our country. We would not take these streets if we DID NOT love America. We would not spend 6 hours of our day slowly marching at a painstaking pace to arrive at the Garden, shout at an empty building if we did not love America.

All of us loved our nation. That was why we were here.  We HATE the direction it is going. We HATE the elected officials who commit atrocities in our name. That is what we HATE. We LOVE America but hate the American evil doers who resides in the pristine building in Washington, DC.

The march was long and grueling. The sun was pounding upon us.  There were times when the protesters were moving at a good pace. Then there were times were we just stood in place not moving at all. But it was all for love of nation.

The mood was of peace. We would NOT allow the liars on FOX News to pervert what we were about today. We would not ALLOW people to act violently. We would not give that piece of shit Sean Hannity the satisfaction of blaming any violence at our march against Kerry. Sorry Sean touch luck. The people had the last laugh.

We claimed our streets and told the world of our anger. By 6pm we gave back the streets to the powers that be. The Republicans were here. But by the time they leave, they will know that every minute they tread on our streets was an affront to our values and we did NOT approve.

I am drained but proud. My city..my beloved city...she would not be muzzled.

DO YOU HEAR US NOW?

A COUPLE OF SLAP NUTS ARE ARGUING WITH ME ABOUT THE SWIFT BOAT LIARS....

In the comments section of a couple of last week's posts. I wrote it as a reply.

After re-reading it today,  I felt I needed to repost it here in the main section to illustrate how those people work. They bog you down in minutia to distract you away from the real problems. I mean one of them is actually DEFENDING the attacks cause she felt Kerry brought it on himself cause he discuss his heroism in combat. I don't recall Bob Dole getting smeared like this when he made his service to our nation a focus of his campaign.

I do recall John McKain getting shit on bythe same man who is doing the shitting on Kerry. So this is a friendly reminder to all Right wing fans of the Rat about your guy's track record:

I cant believe I'm falling for this silly person's trap. He has me arguing about the Swift boat liars when that is such a REAL non issue. Who cares what those liars have said. They have been discredit and lets move on and talk about what AMERICANS really care about:

Jobs: We have lost MORE jobs under the Bush Administration then any other president since Hoover

Healthcare: MORE Americans are without health care since Bush has become the president

Poverty: Our poverty rate has GROWN since Bush has become president

Economy: It is STAGNANT at best. At the start of the Bush presidency we had a 5 trillion dollar surplus now we have a 4 trillion dollar deficit the largest in US history. OUR CHILDREN will be paying our bills

Foreign Policy: The war in Iraq is an abysmal failure. We are NOT nation building, it IS unstable and the corporate corruption in Iraq is a scandal that will outrage the nation if the whole story comes out.

We sent troops in to harms way ill prepared for the occupation. Almost 1000 soldiers have been killed. NO WMDS and NO CONNECTION WITH ALQUEDA!

Osama Bin Laden has been renamed by this president as OSAMA BIN FORGOTTEN! "I don't know were he is and frankly I don't care"-Bush

The list goes on and on about this administration LOUSY presidency. Now if you wanna nit bitch about the Swift boat Vets then please go and play with yourself. If you want to defend your guys record and what ever vision he has then lets do that.

My name isn't Sean Hannity. On my blog we talk ISSUES. Want to bitch about bullshit go watch Fox News.

DATELINE: NYC...THE STREETS ARE SEETHING

Everywhere you went today was another reminder of the contempt.

It was if a rally cry went out to all New Yorkers: Hit the streets and send the word!

T-shirts, Buttons, signs ALL OVER. You could NOT walk a few yards without seeing another reminder of their hate for us returneded with interest.

The people were out and the people were pissed! Damn it felt good. I actually got into it with a pitiful bunch of charlatans knows as "Communist for Kerry" which was a sham group of young Republicans (Note: to GOP when you dress up a bunch of your lap dogs as communist please make sure they aren't wearing $300 tinted designer glasses). I could smell what they were up to. They wanted to get into it with REAL commies in Union Square Park.  So I raised up my voice and told the people that these cats were just a bunch of trouble makers who wanted to provide video for FOX NEWS of a rumble in Union Square. I'm happy to report just like the President it was Mission NOT accomplished.

Washington Square Park was a bazaar for the people. If you need your ANTI-Bush gear the people were selling it. The people were eager to show the RNC. HOW WE FEEL. No joke at one point I swear it was every other person on the street was wearing something against Bush. The most popular item was the Bush face with a read circle and slash.

Then I strolled down to Ground Zero and participated in a moving protest. ACT gave out bells and hundreds maybe a thousand or more New Yorkers were ring these bells as a way to ring out the Republicans.

Everyone that was repulsed that the scum came to this sacred spot to "pay their respect", as if they knew what respect was, when we all knew the reason they PICKED this city and having their fucking convention this late in the years is to score political points off the blood of the nearly 3000 UNAVENEGED SOULS who still search fro justice.

The ringing was deafening and you could tell the Republicans who hotel was right across the street from the sacred site were none to pleased to hear bells ringing as they were off to whatever tourist trap they could find.

The city and her people were stepping up. Over 80% of New Yorkers approve of the protests!

We are a proud people and we love our home and that is while its offends us the vermin are here.

Tomorrow is the march.

Gang for the next week this blog will be about the feel and the mood of the irresistible object meeting the immovable force. The news analysis will be back after we sweep our streets clean of this scum.

Finally I want thank the anonymous protest artist who is pasting across the city the faces of our fallen in Iraq. The pictures has a line describing who the person was. An example of one that really hit me was "He was looking forward to meeting his daughter" Then underneath every photo was the words:

"Not a statistic"

This city is showing Republicans the faces they refused to see for so long.

Like I said before DO YOU HEAR US NOW?

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"I was walkin’ down the street
In the town where I was born
I was movin’ to a beat
That I’d never felt before
So I opened up my eyes
And I took a look around
I saw it written ‘cross the sky
The revolution starts now
Yeah, the revolution starts now"-Steve Earle
