BLUE STATE TELLS DIEBOLD TO KISS ITS ASS
Unlike many Rethuglican controlled Red States that are so quick to get in bed with the corrupt company known as Diebold, the true blue state of California told Diebold to fuck off:
After possibly the most extensive testing ever on a voting system, California has rejected Diebold's flagship electronic voting machine because of printer jams and screen freezes, sending local elections officials scrambling for other means of voting.
"There was a failure rate of about 10 percent, and that's not good enough for the voters of California and not good enough for me," Secretary of State Bruce McPherson said.
If the machines had been used in an election, the result could have been frustration for poll workers and long lines for thousands of voters, elections officials and voter advocates said Thursday.
"We certainly can't take any kind of risk like that with this kind of device on California voters," McPherson said.
Amen to that brother! Too bad our brethren in states such as Ohio, Florida and Georgia don't get that.

RETHUGLICANS PROTECT GUN MAKERS & ALLOW COP KILLER BULLETS ON THE STREETS
The Rethuglican party, today, passed a bill for their most important constituent.
Was is a bill to increase education funding? No.
Was it a bill that gave all working families affordable heath care? No.
Was it a defense spending bill that provided armor, increase pay, benefits for our troops and their families? No
The Rethuglicans passed a bill that protected their most important constituents, the corporate special interests, in this case is was the gun lobby:
The Senate voted Friday to shield firearms manufacturers, dealers and importers from lawsuits brought by victims of gun crimes, a measure opponents said had been ordered up by the gun lobby.
The 65-31 vote passed a bill that supporters said protects the industry from financial disaster and bankruptcy caused by damage lawsuits.
"This bill says go after the criminal, don't go after the law-abiding gun manufacturer or the law-abiding gun seller," said bill sponsor Sen. Larry Craig (news, bio, voting record), R-Idaho.
But Sen. Edward Kennedy (news, bio, voting record), D-Mass., and other opponents said the gun industry needs no such special protection. "This bill has one motivation — payback by the Bush administration and the Republican leadership of the Congress to the powerful special interest of the National Rifle Association," he said.
Making sure that corporate gun makers don't pay when they irresponsibly make weapons that accidentally kill children is what the Rethuglicans are all about.
This is the bill Rethuglicans felt took more precedence then protecting our troops in Iraq.
Oh and one last insult to those who protect the homeland, namely our police and Federal agents:
The Senate also brushed aside a Kennedy amendment that would have banned hollow-tipped, so-called "cop killer" bullets.

We got this from the silent, but deadly 4th member of The Rat..P.D.
Some one emailed it to him:
We've decided we're leaving. We intend to form our own country, and
we're taking the other Blue States with us.
In case you aren't aware, that includes Hawaii, Oregon, Washington,
Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and all the Northeast. We
believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially to
the people of the new country of New California.
To sum up briefly: You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states.
We get stem cell research and the best beaches. We get Elliot Spitzer.
You get Ken Lay.
We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Dollywood.
We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.
We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss.
We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs. You
get Alabama.
We get two-thirds of the tax revenue; you get to make the red states pay
their fair share.
Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian
Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single
moms.
Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war,
and we're going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you
need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They have kids they're
apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and they
don't care if you don't show pictures of their children's caskets coming
home. We do wish you success in Iraq, and hope that the WMDs turn up,
but we're not willing to spend our resources in Bush's Quagmire.
With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80 percent of
the country's fresh water, more than 90 percent of the pineapple and
lettuce, 92 percent of the nation's fresh fruit, 95 percent of America's
quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners) 90 percent
of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the U.S.
low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy
and Seven Sister schools, plus Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.
With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88
percent of all obese Americans (and their projected health care costs),
92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, nearly 100 percent of the tornadoes,
90 percent of the hurricanes, 99 percent of all Southern Baptists,
virtually 100 percent of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones
University, Clemson and the University of Georgia.
We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.
Additionally, 38 percent of those in the Red states believe Jonah was
actually swallowed by a whale, 62 percent believe Life is sacred unless
we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44 percent say that
evolution is only a theory, 53 percent that Saddam was involved in 9/11
and 61 percent of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher
morals then we lefties.
By the way, we're taking the good pot, too. You can have that dirt weed
they grow in Mexico.
Sincerely,
Author Unknown in New California

RETHUGLICANS ARE SWEATING OUR BOY PAUL
This was supposed to be a cake walk for the Rethuglicans.
Its a HEAVILY conservative Rethuglican district. Paul is a novice. Jean Schmidtt is a polished politician.
Yet, the Rethuglicans are dumping LOADS of cash into this race. Why? Cause Paul has a fighting chance guys! People ARE listening to him! Gang, if Paul wins it not just a win for the Democrats, its a win for ALL the PEOPLE. Cause it was The PEOPLE who fought back the corporate machine and THE PEOPLE sending in their $10, $20 and $50 to this man is the reason why he's actually IN THE RACE in the first place!
There is no way this should be happening. There is no way this woman should be working THIS HARD to win a seat that a no Democrat has won in TWENTY YEARS!!!!
Gang, we can do this, THE PEOPLE are stepping up. Let's bring this thing on home and send those bastards in Washington a message!

THE RETHUGS ARE GETTING OUT OF CONTROL
Can these motherless scum sucking rat fuckers sink any lower???
The attacks on our boy Paul Hackett is entering into a phase of lowlifery that stuns even the harden vets at The Rat.
The scumbags are now claiming that Paul is responsible for a flag burning incident that occurred in Ohio. Kos gave us the heads up:
Eric Minameyer was just the beginning. I knew it was important when I got a call saying, "We need the bloggers now more than ever, and this has nothing to do with money."
Eric Minameyer, an advisor to Jean Schmidt, was just the beginning of the "swift boating" of Paul Hackett in what appears to be a coordinated effort by her campaign. Upon arriving at Hackett HQ this morning to take some photos and videos, I was shocked to hear that the deplorable tactics have been taken to a new level in the past 24 hours.
1.) A local conservaitve radio host started by questioning Paul Hackett's service to country. Scott Sloan of WLW 700 AM in Cincinnati went off on some insane rant about the real level Paul's patriotism regarding the war in Iraq and claimed Hackett was using his service for "political purposes."
Over the past two days, Republicans have been calling into talk radio across the district saying things like, "Paul wasn't really a Marine Corps Major in Iraq." It's a coordinated effort, as I am hearing from people that similar lines are being repeated and repeated by radio callers in and out of the district.
2.) The "swift boating" is picking up steam, and we have to fight back. I sat no less than five feet away from a reporter from a cable news outlet that asked, "Some say that this was all a plan on your part. To go to Iraq and come back with this great story while running for congress."
Less than 30 minutes ago, a reporter from CBS asked about Eric Minameyer's question, and yes, questioned Paul's service to his country.
3.) A few days ago, an Amry Private First Class was burried in Fairfield, Ohio. Within 24 hours, a number of flags were burned and tossed into a pile infront of his mother and father-in law's home. As you can imagine, this incident has led to a lot of press and sadness for the family.
The same host above, Scott Sloan, attempted to tie Paul Hackett to the flag burning incident.
Our question is this? DO Rethuglicans have a soul? No, I'm serious. Do they have a mutha fucking soul?

BUSH VOTERS CONTINUE THEIR COWARDICE
Sigh....From the "what else is new files". Not only is the Army not going to meet is recruitment numbers for this year, but they are seriously in danger of not making next year's either:
The Army, which expects to miss its 2005 recruiting goal by about 12,000, already is falling behind for next year.
The pool of recruits who sign up as much as a year before they report for training is dwindling. So far, 3,100 have signed up for 2006, according to Army Recruiting Command at Fort Knox, Ky. The Army says it hopes to have 7,200 recruits in the pool by Oct. 1, when the 2006 recruiting year begins. By comparison:
• The Army started the 2005 recruiting year with about 14,700 recruits in the delayed entry pool. It is making up some of the shortfall in recruiting by re-enlisting soldiers at a higher-than-expected rate. But the Army also has tried to trim this year's shortfall by rushing many delayed entry enlistees into basic training.
• In 2004, the Army had more than 33,000 enlistees signed up ahead of time. It met its recruiting goals.
Allowing recruits to put off going to boot camp for up to a year gives enlistees flexibility and provides the Army with a buffer for future recruiting needs. Army statistics show the pool's size is a key indicator of its annual recruiting.
Maj. Gen. Michael Rochelle, who heads Army Recruiting Command, said recruiting in July is slightly ahead of its goal, but that won't wipe out the current shortfall. He said parents are still reluctant to encourage their children to enlist. The Army has taken the brunt of U.S. casualties in Iraq.
Rochelle acknowledged it can expect another struggle next year.
That's just pitiful! Our nation at war and the people chiefly responsible, the Bush voter, refuses to sign up. What sort of rat fuckers are you people? Where is your conscious? This is YOUR WAR. YOU wanted this more then anyone else!
"Well, why do we have to serve? We're all in this together", some of you Bush voters will say. Very true, asswipe, but here's the thing. How can you tell others to fight in this war when YOU refuse to? You, join first THEN ask those of us AGAINST the war to join. Cause as far as we are concern, if its not a big deal for the people who WANT the war, then how can it be a big deal for those of us who DIDN'T want the war???
None of the recruiting trends bode well for the Army, said Loren Thompson, an analyst at the Lexington Institute in Arlington, Va.
"If you think of the Army as a watershed, their reservoir is about to run dry," Thompson said. "They have nothing left in reserve."

RETHUGLICANS FEEL GUN LOBBY IS MORE IMPORTANT THEN OUR TROOPS
Senate Republican leaders decided Tuesday that a gun manufacturers’ liability bill is more important than next year’s $441.6 billion defense authorization bill.
With Democrats expressing amazement that there could be any higher legislative priority in a time of war than the annual defense bill that includes money for pay and benefits, operations and maintenance, and weapons’ purchases and research, Sen. Bill Frist of Tennessee, the Senate Republican leader, decided Tuesday that a bill protecting gun manufacturers from lawsuits over the illegal use of firearms was a higher priority.
WOW!!! The Rethuglicans feel the NRA is more important then making sure our guys have the best equipment!
That the Rethuglicans, special Interests over the good of our nation.
Oh and before I hear Rethuglican apologists complain about the source of the story. It's the ARMY Times, not the Village Voice.

Got this from All Spin Zone:
Latoyia Figueroa is still missing after 8 days. And as tragic as the Natalee Holloway case might be, Natalee doesn't have a seven year old child wondering where she is, nor was Natalee (to the best of our knowledge) 5 months pregnant.
Boys at The Rat are happy to say we didn't swallow that missing Aruba girl Kool Aid, but we are sadden that we didn't t know about Latoyia Figueroa..Well, no actually, cause she, like Holloway are just one of the many who go missing every day. Is it sad? Yes. Is it a tragedy? Damn straight. Does it deserve to be national news?? Not unless we do it with every man, woman and child that goes missing in our country every day.
What made Holloway's story so special? She was beautiful blond.
What makes Ms. Figueroa story so unworthy of national Press attention?
All Spin Zone says it best:
Here's an overview of the important details in this “missing woman” case:
1) Latoyia (we should only use her first name) is not white.
2) She does not have blonde hair.
3) She was not scheduled to get married last weekend.
4) She's from West Philadelphia.
5) There may actually be a lead or two in her case.
6) HER UNBORN BABY, HER UNBORN BABY, HER UNBORN BABY.
7) To the best of our knowledge, no one from Texas has yet offered to bring in cadaver dogs to search for Latoyia, nor have forensic dive teams volunteered to scour the Schuylkill or Delaware rivers.
8 ) Also to the best of our knowledge, the FBI hasn't been requested to participate in the investigation, nor have any DNA samples been rushed to Washington, DC.
9) HER UNBORN BABY, HER UNBORN BABY, HER UNBORN BABY.
I hope this enough for you to run with - certainly, the crackerjack CNN research team available to you can fill in any speculative details or obscure leads of prurient interest. While it's doubtful that Latoyia's family can offer $100 reward, much less $1 million (as has Natalee's), I'm sure they'd still have an undying gratitude for any of your viewers who could turn up a lead on Latoyia.
Oh, and here's a picture of Latoyia, in case you need one when you run your full hour show devoted to Latoyia. I'm sure her family can provide more.
Lastly, I note that “ Natalee Holloway” rates “about 5600” Google News hits, while “ Latoyia Figueroa” rates two.

"The only way I know how to support the troops is by going over there. All the chicken hawks back here who said, 'Oh, Iraq is talking bad about us. They're going to threaten us' -- look, if you really believe that, you leave your wife and three kids and go sign up for the Army or Marines and go over there and fight. Otherwise, shut your mouth." - Paul Hackett
