RETHUGLICANS ARE SWEATING OUR BOY PAUL

This was supposed to be a cake walk for the Rethuglicans.

Its a HEAVILY conservative Rethuglican district. Paul is a novice. Jean Schmidtt is a polished politician.

Yet, the Rethuglicans are dumping LOADS of cash into this race. Why? Cause Paul has a fighting chance guys! People ARE listening to him! Gang, if Paul wins it not just a win for the Democrats, its a win for ALL the PEOPLE. Cause it was The PEOPLE who fought back the corporate machine and THE PEOPLE sending in their $10, $20 and $50 to this man is the reason why he's actually IN THE RACE in the first place!

There is no way this should be happening. There is no way this woman should be working THIS HARD to win a seat that a no Democrat has won in TWENTY YEARS!!!!

Gang, we can do this, THE PEOPLE are stepping up. Let's bring this thing on home and send those bastards in Washington a message!

THE RETHUGS ARE GETTING OUT OF CONTROL

Can these motherless scum sucking rat fuckers sink any lower???

The attacks on our boy Paul Hackett  is entering into a phase of lowlifery that stuns even the harden vets at The Rat.

The scumbags are now claiming that Paul is responsible for a flag burning incident that occurred in Ohio. Kos gave us the heads up:

Eric Minameyer was just the beginning. I knew it was important when I got a call saying, "We need the bloggers now more than ever, and this has nothing to do with money."

Eric Minameyer, an advisor to Jean Schmidt, was just the beginning of the "swift boating" of Paul Hackett in what appears to be a coordinated effort by her campaign.  Upon arriving at Hackett HQ this morning to take some photos and videos, I was shocked to hear that the deplorable tactics have been taken to a new level in the past 24 hours.

1.) A local conservaitve radio host started by questioning Paul Hackett's service to country.  Scott Sloan of WLW 700 AM in Cincinnati went off on some insane rant about the real level Paul's patriotism regarding the war in Iraq and claimed Hackett was using his service for "political purposes."

Over the past two days, Republicans have been calling into talk radio across the district saying things like, "Paul wasn't really a Marine Corps Major in Iraq."  It's a coordinated effort, as I am hearing from people that similar lines are being repeated and repeated by radio callers in and out of the district.

2.) The "swift boating" is picking up steam, and we have to fight back. I sat no less than five feet away from a reporter from a cable news outlet that asked, "Some say that this was all a plan on your part.  To go to Iraq and come back with this great story while running for congress."

Less than 30 minutes ago, a reporter from CBS asked about Eric Minameyer's question, and yes, questioned Paul's service to his country.

3.) A few days ago, an Amry Private First Class was burried in Fairfield, Ohio.  Within 24 hours, a number of flags were burned and tossed into a pile infront of his mother and father-in law's home.  As you can imagine, this incident has led to a lot of press and sadness for the family.

The same host above, Scott Sloan, attempted to tie Paul Hackett to the flag burning incident.

Our question is this? DO Rethuglicans have a soul? No, I'm serious. Do they have a mutha fucking soul?

The boys at The Rat bust open our stash for beer and threw some more loot at Paul. Now We're asking you Rat Bastards to do the same. Let fuck these assholes were it hurts and send Paul to Congress!!!

BUSH VOTERS CONTINUE THEIR COWARDICE

Sigh....From the "what else is new files". Not only is the Army not going to meet is recruitment numbers for this year, but they are seriously in danger of not making next year's either:

The Army, which expects to miss its 2005 recruiting goal by about 12,000, already is falling behind for next year.

The pool of recruits who sign up as much as a year before they report for training is dwindling. So far, 3,100 have signed up for 2006, according to Army Recruiting Command at Fort Knox, Ky. The Army says it hopes to have 7,200 recruits in the pool by Oct. 1, when the 2006 recruiting year begins. By comparison:

• The Army started the 2005 recruiting year with about 14,700 recruits in the delayed entry pool. It is making up some of the shortfall in recruiting by re-enlisting soldiers at a higher-than-expected rate. But the Army also has tried to trim this year's shortfall by rushing many delayed entry enlistees into basic training.

• In 2004, the Army had more than 33,000 enlistees signed up ahead of time. It met its recruiting goals.

Allowing recruits to put off going to boot camp for up to a year gives enlistees flexibility and provides the Army with a buffer for future recruiting needs. Army statistics show the pool's size is a key indicator of its annual recruiting.

Maj. Gen. Michael Rochelle, who heads Army Recruiting Command, said recruiting in July is slightly ahead of its goal, but that won't wipe out the current shortfall. He said parents are still reluctant to encourage their children to enlist. The Army has taken the brunt of U.S. casualties in Iraq.

Rochelle acknowledged it can expect another struggle next year.

That's just pitiful! Our nation at war and the people chiefly responsible, the Bush voter, refuses to sign up. What sort of rat fuckers are you people? Where is your conscious? This is YOUR WAR. YOU wanted this more then anyone else!

"Well, why do we have to serve? We're all in this together", some of you Bush voters will say.  Very true, asswipe, but here's the thing. How can you tell others to fight in this war when YOU refuse to? You, join first THEN ask those of us AGAINST the war to join. Cause as far as we are concern, if its not a big deal for the people who WANT the war, then how can it be a big deal for those of us who DIDN'T want the war???

None of the recruiting trends bode well for the Army, said Loren Thompson, an analyst at the Lexington Institute in Arlington, Va.

"If you think of the Army as a watershed, their reservoir is about to run dry," Thompson said. "They have nothing left in reserve."

RETHUGLICANS FEEL GUN LOBBY IS MORE IMPORTANT THEN OUR TROOPS

Gang, when we heard about this even Slick (The pro-gun nut of The Rat) was pissed off.

Rethuglicans decided they had to fuck over our troops in favor of doing the bidding of the gun lobby. I shit you not:

Senate Republican leaders decided Tuesday that a gun manufacturers’ liability bill is more important than next year’s $441.6 billion defense authorization bill.

With Democrats expressing amazement that there could be any higher legislative priority in a time of war than the annual defense bill that includes money for pay and benefits, operations and maintenance, and weapons’ purchases and research, Sen. Bill Frist of Tennessee, the Senate Republican leader, decided Tuesday that a bill protecting gun manufacturers from lawsuits over the illegal use of firearms was a higher priority.

WOW!!! The Rethuglicans feel the NRA is more important then making sure our guys have the best equipment!

That the Rethuglicans, special Interests over the good of our nation.

Oh and before I hear Rethuglican apologists complain about the source of the story. It's the ARMY Times, not the Village Voice.

LATOYIA FIGUEROA

Got this from All Spin Zone:

Latoyia Figueroa is still missing after 8 days. And as tragic as the Natalee Holloway case might be, Natalee doesn't have a seven year old child wondering where she is, nor was Natalee (to the best of our knowledge) 5 months pregnant.

Boys at The Rat are happy to say we didn't swallow that missing Aruba girl Kool Aid, but we are sadden that we didn't t know about Latoyia Figueroa..Well, no actually, cause she, like Holloway are just one of the many who go missing every day. Is it sad? Yes. Is it a tragedy? Damn straight. Does it deserve to be national news?? Not unless we do it with every man, woman and child that goes missing in our country every day.

What made Holloway's story so special? She was beautiful blond.

What makes Ms. Figueroa story so unworthy of national Press attention?

All Spin Zone says it best:

Here's an overview of the important details in this “missing woman” case:

1) Latoyia (we should only use her first name) is not white.
2) She does not have blonde hair.
3) She was not scheduled to get married last weekend.
4) She's from West Philadelphia.
5) There may actually be a lead or two in her case.
6) HER UNBORN BABY, HER UNBORN BABY, HER UNBORN BABY.
7) To the best of our knowledge, no one from Texas has yet offered to bring in cadaver dogs to search for Latoyia, nor have forensic dive teams volunteered to scour the Schuylkill or Delaware rivers.
8 ) Also to the best of our knowledge, the FBI hasn't been requested to participate in the investigation, nor have any DNA samples been rushed to Washington, DC.
9) HER UNBORN BABY, HER UNBORN BABY, HER UNBORN BABY.

I hope this enough for you to run with - certainly, the crackerjack CNN research team available to you can fill in any speculative details or obscure leads of prurient interest. While it's doubtful that Latoyia's family can offer $100 reward, much less $1 million (as has Natalee's), I'm sure they'd still have an undying gratitude for any of your viewers who could turn up a lead on Latoyia.

Oh, and here's a picture of Latoyia, in case you need one when you run your full hour show devoted to Latoyia. I'm sure her family can provide more.

Lastly, I note thatNatalee Holloway rates “about 5600” Google News hits, whileLatoyia Figueroarates two.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"The only way I know how to support the troops is by going over there. All the chicken hawks back here who said, 'Oh, Iraq is talking bad about us. They're going to threaten us' -- look, if you really believe that, you leave your wife and three kids and go sign up for the Army or Marines and go over there and fight. Otherwise, shut your mouth." -Paul Hackett

FREEDOM ON THE MARCH

From the "it would be funny, if it wasn't so sad files". Iraq's new constitution would limit the rights of Women:
A part of Iraq's draft constitution obtained by The Associated Press gives Islam a major role in Iraqi civil law, raising concerns that women could lose rights in marriage, divorce and inheritance.

The proposal also appears to rule out non-governmental militias, an area addressed Monday by U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad. Urging Iraqis to build national institutions, he said there is no place for factional forces that "build the infrastructure for a future civil war."

On the capital's western outskirts, gunmen shot up a pair of buses carrying workers home from a government-owned company Tuesday, killing 12 and wounding nine, police said. Attackers also fatally shot a Baghdad police officer and wounded a Health Ministry employee.

Now, to be honest it does make sense. I mean Rethuglicans want women bare foot and pregnant anyway, so since they can't get it in America..Yet..Why not force it down the throats of the 51st State..Iraq???

RETHUGLICANS SHIT ON ANOTHER VET

Every single time a Vet runs as a Democrat, Rethuglicans pull out all the stops to smear their service.

Take what they are trying to do with our boy Paul Hackett.

Paul, as you know is running for Congress in Ohio-2. Its a long shot run cause the district is HEAVILY conservative Republican. However Paul has out raised his opponent in on line funds and apparently she is also broke. Which means she will need yet ANOTHER infusion of Corporate special Interest cash.

In the mean time  Paul must be making some one sweat cause, his opponent, JeanSchmidt, has as a "special advisor" one Eric Minamyer, Retired Navy Captain.

Apparently one of Capt. Minamyer's duties is to trash Paul's service to our nation ala Swift Boat Vets. Minamyer's beef is that Paul, while SERVING IN IRAQ didn't lead forces into combat. As if that means jack shit. Last I checked if you wore a US uniform in Iraq you had a target painted on your ass. Oh and by the way Paul did serve in Fallujah not exactly an Alabama Air National Guard base if you get my drift.

This is a CLASSIC Rethuglican tactic, use a Vet to trash another vet while the candidate remains above the fray. They use the same play book over and over again. These people are REPUGNANT!

Fact: Paul served in IRAQ, IN Fallujah!

Fact: The closest his opponent, ever came to serving our nation in combat is a nephew who she claims is considering serving.

Gang, we gotta stop these Rethuglican attacks on our vets.

Rethuglicans should honor their service, not smear it.

Gang, kick out some loot to Paul. We threw a few bucks his way and we hope some of our Rat Bastards will do the same.

This is a cat, we all can like.

TRAGEDY IN LONDON

Friday, the London PD shot and killed man who they thought migh thave been linked to the bombings and attempted bombings that occured over the last 2 weeks. Initially they told the world that the man was involved, turns out he was notihng more then an innocent by stander:

Scotland Yard admitted Saturday that a man police officers gunned down at point-blank range in front of horrified subway passengers on Friday had nothing to do with the investigation into the bombing attacks here.

The man was identified by police as Jean Charles de Menezes, a 27-year-old Brazilian, described by officers as an electrician on his way to work. "He was not connected to incidents in central London on 21st July, 2005, in which four explosive devices were partly detonated," a police statement said.

We're horrified by the tragedy, yet we give the benefit of the doubt to the Police. They we're in a tough situation with emotions running high. IT was a horrible incident that we pray never happens again.

But gang, THIS is what happens when you have terrorist coupled their allies the fear mongers in the media at work. You create a frenzied atmosphere, where sane reason able people like the police end up shooting an innocent man.

The terrorist, main job is to instill TERROR in to the people. That's his whole objective is to have us sacred shitless. But in order to do that he needs help, and who better to help then the mass media.

The terrorist, to mass media, is  like blood in the water to sharks. When ever they get a chance to exploit fear they will do so.

We showed you a couple examples of  this a couple weeks back. Here is another from that same asshole on Faux John Gibson:

love the way the Brits have 10 million cameras sticking up the nose of every citizen no matter where they are, except in the loo.

I love the way they popped the pictures of those four bombers so quick. Those four bombers are now identified in public and they will be run down sometime very soon.

I love the way they know where these guys live, and I love the fact that they seem to have been spying on these guys for a while already. All that is good.

What is also good is the Brit police tactics that we saw at work in the subway Friday morning. The tackle and kill team is incredible, if for no other reason than their bravery. Can you imagine the job of those cops? Tackle the guy wearing a vest bomb and hope your colleague is right behind with the gun to put five bullets in the noggin before he sets off the bomb.

Turns out he didn't have a bomb, and turns out he wasn't one of the four bombers Thursday. And if it turns out ultimately that he had nothing to do with anything, no doubt there will be hell to pay. But the police say he was linked to the terror probe, so let's wait and see.

Meantime, got to admire the cojones of those Brit cops to go after him like that. All of this trumps any of my other complaints that the Brits weren't making the right noises about fighting terror. They like to go about things a bit more quietly than us. Not my style, but okay, fine — as long as they get the five in the noggin of the right bomber boy. They do that and I'm fine.

So for the moment, alls well. Just catch the four bombers. Five in the noggin is fine. Don't complain that sounds barbaric. We're fighting barbaric.

Now in fairness to dickhead, he filed his comments BEFORE it was released that the man who noggin they fired 5 into was an INNOCENT MAN. We hope he would apologize, but he works for FOX and we're not holding our breathe.

But this is what we're talking about gang. This mentality we're killing innocent people is ok because "We're fighting barbarics". I wonder if Gibson would feel the same if it was NYPD who popped 5 caps in his son's brain.

We also like how he advocates that Americans should live in a surveillance state. Where the people in Washington can watch your every move. I wonder if Gibby would like a President Hillary to watch where he goes at night?

The media and the terrorist want us to be scared. The  terrorist cause that's his job. The media cause that's how they get ratings and that's how THEY make money! They make money off your fears.

PATRIOTISM LITE

We at The Rat have been riffin about this issue for a LONG TIME.

In the NY Times today is a great article on how America, despite her talks and yellow ribbon magnets of "Supporting the troops" is, in fact, just talk. All words no deeds:

The Bush administration's rallying call that America is a nation at war is increasingly ringing hollow to men and women in uniform, who argue in frustration that America is not a nation at war, but a nation with only its military at war.

From bases in Iraq and across the United States to the Pentagon and the military's war colleges, officers and enlisted personnel quietly raise a question for political leaders: if America is truly on a war footing, why is so little sacrifice asked of the nation at large?

There is no serious talk of a draft to share the burden of fighting across the broad citizenry, and neither Republicans nor Democrats are pressing for a tax increase to force Americans to cover the $5 billion a month in costs from Iraq, Afghanistan and new counterterrorism missions.

There are not even concerted efforts like the savings-bond drives or gasoline rationing that helped to unite the country behind its fighting forces in wars past.

"Nobody in America is asked to sacrifice, except us," said one officer just back from a yearlong tour in Iraq, voicing a frustration now drawing the attention of academic specialists in military sociology.

How many time have we said this America? How many times have we plead with you that supporting the troops goes beyond words? How many times have we asked you to write yer congressman? How many times have we asked you to contribute money to help out the families of our troops? How many times have we begged Bush voters to take their gutless asses to a recruiting station? Huh?

So many Americans think that supporting the troops is backing this war and turning a blind eye as to how the leadership (i.e. the Cult leader) is executing the war. As far as many of you are concerned "I have my yellow ribbin and what ever Bush does is AOK with me! Oh thanks for the 500 bucks payoff you gave me".

Is that your version of supporting the troops? Bush bought your silence with his measly chump change that's he called  "tax cuts" for working people like you and I? (I wont even go into the HUGE tax breaks he gave the rich. At least they got PAID.)

War is serious business. War has SERIOUS costs! Its not a fucking PS-2 game! Its real deal shit. During WWII the people, our nation, rose up together to vanquish evil. The people joined the service, the people rationed, the people did all it could to support that war! The PEOPLE!

Now in 2005, I hear Right wing talk show hacks tell me this war is on the same plane with WW II and they ask America to do NOTHING except follow their leader blindly.

As opposed to leading the clarion charge for America to begin weaning itself off of foreign fuel, they demand that America CONTINUES her addiction toe Saudi oil! They ask  that you buy more gas guzzling SUV's!! In fact the Right wing tabloid NY Post had a contest to WIN an SUV!!! This is madness!

Never in the history of mankind has a civilization waged war and cut taxes at the same time. NEVER. Never in the history of civilization has a country has been asked to do so little while its troops are at war. Cept ours.

We are the only country that has done it. Want to know what yer silence and payoff bought? Or shall I say didn't buy? How about armor? How about man power? How about decent wages for our troops in harms way? That's what your silence and payoff got us. That is what your version of "Supporting the troops" is costing us.

I hope you are happy.
