CIA TELLS RETHUGLICANS TO BACK THE FUCK UP

Here is am open letter a bunch of CIA agents wrote, demanding that the Rethuglicans stop with their partisan anti-American bullshit:


AN OPEN STATEMENT TO THE LEADERS OF THE UNITED STATES HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND THE SENATE.

The Honorable Dennis Hastert, Speaker, U.S. House of Representatives

The Honorable Nancy Pelosi, Minority Leader, U.S. House of Representatives

The Honorable Dr. William Frist, Majority Leader of the Senate

The Honorable Harry Reid, Minority Leader of the Senate


We, the undersigned former U.S. intelligence officers are concerned with the tone and substance of the public debate over the ongoing Department of Justice investigation into who leaked the name of Valerie Plame, wife of former U.S. Ambassador Joseph Wilson IV, to syndicated columnist Robert Novak and other members of the media, which exposed her status as an undercover CIA officer. The disclosure of Ms. Plame’s name was a shameful event in American history and, in our professional judgment, may have damaged U.S. national security and poses a threat to the ability of U.S. intelligence gathering using human sources. Any breach of the code of confidentiality and cover weakens the overall fabric of intelligence, and, directly or indirectly, jeopardizes the work and safety of intelligence workers and their sources.

The Republican National Committee has circulated talking points to supporters to use as part of a coordinated strategy to discredit Ambassador Joseph Wilson and his wife. As part of this campaign a common theme is the idea that Ambassador Wilson’s wife, Valerie Plame was not undercover and deserved no protection. The following are four recent examples of this "talking point":

Michael Medved stated on Larry King Live on July 12, 2005, "And let's be honest about this. Mrs. Plame, Mrs. Wilson, had a desk job at Langley. She went back and forth every single day."

Victoria Toensing stated on a Fox News program with John Gibson on July 12, 2005 that, "Well, they weren't taking affirmative measures to protect that identity. They gave her a desk job in Langley. You don't really have somebody deep undercover going back and forth to Langley, where people can see them."

Ed Rodgers, Washington Lobbyist and former Republican official, said on July 13, 2005 on the Newshour with Jim Lehrer, "And also I think it is now a matter of established fact that Mrs. Plame was not a protected covert agent, and I don't think there's any meaningful investigation about that."

House majority whip Roy Blunt (R, Mo), on Face the Nation, July 17, 2005, "It certainly wouldn't be the first time that the CIA might have been overzealous in sort of maintaining the kind of top-secret definition on things longer than they needed to. You know, this was a job that the ambassador's wife had that she went to every day. It was a desk job. I think many people in Washington understood that her employment was at the CIA, and she went to that office every day."

These comments reveal an astonishing ignorance of the intelligence community and the role of cover. The fact is that there are thousands of U.S. intelligence officers who "work at a desk" in the Washington, D.C. area every day who are undercover. Some have official cover, and some have non-official cover. Both classes of cover must and should be protected.

While we are pleased that the U.S. Department of Justice is conducting an investigation and that the U.S. Attorney General has recused himself, we believe that the partisan attacks against Valerie Plame are sending a deeply discouraging message to the men and women who have agreed to work undercover for their nation’s security.

We are not lawyers and are not qualified to determine whether the leakers technically violated the 1982 Intelligence Identities Protection Act. However, we are confident that Valerie Plame was working in a cover status and that our nation’s leaders, regardless of political party, have a duty to protect all intelligence officers. We believe it is appropriate for the President to move proactively to dismiss from office or administratively punish any official who participated in any way in revealing Valerie Plame's status. Such an act by the President would send an unambiguous message that leaks of this nature will not be tolerated and would be consistent with his duties as the Commander-in-Chief.

We also believe it is important that Congress speak with one non-partisan voice on this issue. Intelligence officers should not be used as political footballs. In the case of Valerie Plame, she still works for the CIA and is not in a position to publicly defend her reputation and honor. We stand in her stead and ask that Republicans and Democrats honor her service to her country and stop the campaign of disparagement and innuendo aimed at discrediting Mrs. Wilson and her husband.

Our friends and colleagues have difficult jobs gathering the intelligence, which helps, for example, to prevent terrorist attacks against Americans at home and abroad. They sometimes face great personal risk and must spend long hours away from family and friends. They serve because they love this country and are committed to protecting it from threats from abroad and to defending the principles of liberty and freedom. They do not expect public acknowledgement for their work, but they do expect and deserve their government’s protection of their covert status.

For the good of our country, we ask you to please stand up for every man and woman who works for the U.S. intelligence community and help protect their ability to live their cover.

A special election will be held in August for the seat that was vacated by Rob Portman when he was appointed as United States Trade Representative by the Cult leader.

Iraq War veteran Paul Hackett is running for his seat against a typical Rethuglican far right wing extremist who was wined and dine by special interests, THE SAME DAY Paul was fighting in Fallujah.

BUSH PICK EXTREMIST FOR THE HIGHEST COURT IN THE LAND

Well gang just as we predicted the cult leader picks some FAR RIGHT WING nut job for the Supreme Court. Thus guaranteeing a LONG fight that will pre-occupy America and sweep Rove's treason under the rug. Rove and the Cult leader knows how to play our nation:

President Bush chose federal appeals court judge John G. Roberts Jr. on Tuesday as his first nominee for the Supreme Court, selecting a rock solid conservative whose nomination could trigger a tumultuous battle over the direction of the nation's highest court, senior administration officials said.

Bush offered the position to Roberts in a telephone call at 12:35 p.m. after a luncheon with the visiting prime minister of Australia, John Howard. He was to announce it later with a flourish in a nationally broadcast speech to the nation.

Roberts has been on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit since June 2003 after being picked for that seat by Bush.

Advocacy groups on the right say that Roberts, a 50-year-old native of Buffalo, N.Y., who attended Harvard Law School, is a bright judge with strong conservative credentials he burnished in the administrations of former Presidents Bush and Reagan. While he has been a federal judge for just a little more than two years, legal experts say that whatever experience he lacks on the bench is offset by his many years arguing cases before the Supreme Court.

Liberal groups, however, say Roberts has taken positions in cases involving free speech and religious liberty that endanger those rights. Abortion rights groups allege that Roberts is hostile to women's reproductive freedom and cite a brief he co-wrote in 1990 that suggested the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 high court decision that legalized abortion.

"The court's conclusion in Roe that there is a fundamental right to an abortion ... finds no support in the text, structure or history of the Constitution," the brief said.

REASON WHY KARL ROVE BETRAYED HIS NATION

Some of you may have wonder why Karl "Judas" Rove betrayed our nation, when he revealed the name of a CIA operative.

Was it money?

Sex?

Drugs?

Yankee fan???

Nay my brothers, of how I wish it were so. How it wish it was cause he was a Yankee fan it would explain a lot and confirm a theory I have about Yanke..ahem..I digress.

No. Has nothing to do with sex, drugs or baseball.

Gang, the reason why Karl Rove committed treason are boiled down to three words. Rove betrayed our nation because Joseph Wilson (Valerie Plame's husband) is:


“He’s a Democrat.”

I shit you not.

I mean its kinda stupid when you consider that Wilson voted for Bush' father AND Bush's father once called Joe Wilson a hero. But that's how evil and twisted Karl Rove is.

"Spanner, so what", you may say. "It's not like you guys at The Rat bare much love for Republicans either" True, and in a weird way, some of at The Rat can respect Rove's hate. I mean personally I think many Rethuglicans would sell their mother's to crack dealers if it would score political points.

But here is the HUGE and I mean HUGE difference between US, at The Rat, and the gutter scum known as the Rethuglican party.....WE NEVER PLACE OUR PARTY OVER OUR NATION!! NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!! IT'S USA FIRST!! From Gregor on down to Slick! Why in the FUCK do you think we fight those scum suckers that are ruining our nation so hard??? Cause he hate America? Are you that fucking clueless????? We fight cause we love our nation! That's what you do when you love something YOU FIGHT AS HARD AS YOU CAN UNTILL YOU HAVE NO BREATHE IN YOUR LUNGS! OR as someone once said so elegantly:

That's our credo at The Rat when it comes to our nation. We fight for this nation cause we love it. When our nation is in distress we come to her hour of need, step up to the plate and fight those who would tarnish our country's name for profit and power!

It's love of nation that drives The Rat. Love for the ideas she represents. Love of the good she can do. Love for the promise she has to offer.

A promise that any man or woman can achieve all they want. A promise that freedom is not jingoistic words used to divide, but a belief! An idea! Freedom is truly on the march when, the people in OUR NATION understand that it is WE who run this country! We who are the true defenders of freedom. Those who resides in the ivory towers in Washington WORK FOR US!

See that "The consent of the govern". They work for us America. What we at The Rat want is for America to recognize that. For the people to understand they have a RESPONSIBILITY  to hold those accountable who govern our nation. We can not turn a blind eye to the corruption that has infected our nation.

Next year, we have another opportunity to regain control of our country. Come November we can kick out the Delay's Santroums, Peter Kings or any other corrupt official who is more addicted to power then doing the people's business. It's time America that you wake up. Get involved. Call your people in Washington and let them know. YOU ARE WATCHING!

The thing they fear the most is a pissed off American.

IRAQ is slipping into all-out civil war, a Shia leader declared yesterday, as a devastating onslaught of suicide bombers slaughtered more than 150 people, most of them Shias, around the capital at the weekend.

One bomber killed almost 100 people when he blew up a fuel tanker south of Baghdad, an attack aimed at snapping Shia patience and triggering the full-blown sectarian war that al-Qaeda has been trying to foment for almost two years.

Iraq’s security forces have been overwhelmed by the scale of the suicide bombings — 11 on Friday alone and many more over the weekend — ordered by the Jordanian terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

“What is truly happening, and what shall happen, is clear: a war against the Shias,” Sheikh Jalal al-Din al-Saghir, a prominent Shia cleric and MP, told the Iraqi parliament.


Freedom is on the march!

SHIT MEET FAN

From today's MEET THE PRESS:

MR. RUSSERT:  Let's go through what you know with you and our viewers.  This is the Robert Novak column July 4, 2003.

"Wilson never worked for the CIA, but his wife, Valerie Plame, is an agency operative on weapons of mass destruction.  Two senior administration officials told me that Wilson's wife suggested sending him to Niger. ... The CIA says its counterproliferation officials selected Wilson and asked his wife to contact him."

And then on this Friday, we learned this.

"Karl Rove...spoke with the columnist Robert Novak [on July 8, 2003] as he was preparing an article...that identified a C.I.A. officer who was undercover, someone who has been officially briefed on the matter said.  Mr. Rove has told investigators that he learned from the columnist the name of the C.I.A. officer, who was referred to by her maiden name, Valerie Plame, and the circumstances in which her husband, former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, traveled to Africa to investigate possible uranium sales to Iraq, the person said.  After hearing Mr. Novak's account, the person who has been briefed on the matter said, Mr. Rove told the columnist:  `I heard that, too.'"

Now, Matt Cooper's original article, July 17:  "And some government officials have noted to TIME in interviews, (as well as to syndicated columnist Robert Novak) that Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, is a CIA official who monitors the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.  These officials have suggested that she was involved in her husband's being dispatched to Niger..."

And we learned this.  Matt Cooper's e-mail outlining his conversation with Karl Rove on which he based his column.

"Friday morning, July 11, 2003...Matt Cooper was tapping out an e-mail to his bureau chief. ... `Spoke to Rove on double super secret background for about two mins. ... please don't source this to rove or even wh'"--White House.  "...Cooper wrote that Rove offered him `a big warning' not to `get too far out on Wilson.'  Rove told Cooper that Wilson's trip had not been authorized by" the director of the CIA, "George Tenet--or Vice President Dick Cheney.  Rather, `it was, Karl Rove said, wilson's wife, who apparently works at the agency on WMD issues, who authorized the trip.'"

Mr. Mehlman, based on that--and you just heard Matt Cooper say the first time he learned that Joe Wilson's wife worked for the CIA was from Karl Rove, wasn't that a leak of something that should not have been leaked?

MR. KEN MEHLMAN:  Tim, it was not.  What's most amazing, if you think about it, is we wouldn't have been having this show last week.  Mr. Fitzgerald was conducting his investigation last week.  What's changed?  You hit the nail on the head what's changed.  Two stories have come out this week, both of which have the effect of exonerating and vindicating Mr.  Rove, not implicating him. And what's so amazing and what's so outrageous, in my judgment, is, despite the fact that this investigation is ongoing, despite the fact that Mr. Rove and other people at the White House are cooperating fully with Pat Fitzgerald, Democrat partisans on the Hill have engaged in a smear campaign where they have attacked Karl Rove on the basis of information which actually vindicates and exonerates him, not implicates him.

That information says Karl Rove was not Bob Novak's source, that Novak told Rove, not the other way around, and it says that Karl warned Matt Cooper about Joe Wilson not to get too overactive.  Karl was right.  Joe Wilson was wrong on numerous fronts.

MR. RUSSERT:  But Mr. Rove did say to Robert Novak "I heard that, too," and Mr. Novak used him as a confirming source.  And, two, Matt Cooper said he learned of her existence as a CIA operative from Karl Rove.

MR. MEHLMAN:  Well, Tim, these same stories also suggested that Karl Rove heard the first time about it from another reporter.  It suggested that he was not Bob Novak's initial source, and that Bob Novak never said, "I'm asking for corroboration."  There was a chat going on.  But here's the point.  We don't know this stuff.  We're prejudging this morning.  And that's why it's so outrageous that this past week, John Kerry, who was the nominee for president of the United States by the Democrat Party, Hillary Clinton, the first lady of the United States, Harry Reid, the Democrat leader in the Senate, would attack Karl Rove, call for him to lose his job, call for his national security clearance to be taken away.  Every Democrat voted for that to happen on the basis of prejudging a case when the information actually exonerates and vindicates.  It doesn't implicate.  It's wrong, it's outrageous, and folks involved in this, frankly, owe Karl Rove an apology.

MR. RUSSERT:  One more point.  I'll bring in Mr. Podesta.  When one is given classified clearance, they are asked to sign an oath, and they are given a briefing book with form--Standard Form 312, it's called.  And if you read this briefing book, it says this:  "Before...confirming the accuracy of what appears in the public source, the signer of"--"SF 312 must confirm through an authorized official that the information has, in fact, been declassified.  If it has not...confirmation of its accuracy is also an unauthorized disclosure."

So by confirming a story from Robert Novak or sharing information with Matt Cooper, no matter where it came from, if, in fact, it was classified information, without seeking to determine whether it was declassified, it is an unauthorized disclosure.


In other words gang, Rove fucked up.

He decided it was better to play politics with National Security.
