A CLOSER LOOK AT ARMY "RECRUITMENT"

What a coincidence, as soon as the cult leaders' minion, Rumsfeld, took over releasing Army recruitment numbers, voila! They end their four month streak of not meeting their quotas:

For the first time since January, the Army met its monthly recruiting goal in June, but still faces what some senior Army officials say is a nearly insurmountable shortfall to meet the service's annual quota.

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Richard B. Myers, told a town-hall meeting at the Pentagon today that the Army had exceeded its June quota, but gave no details. Senior Army officials said in interviews earlier in the day that the Army had exceeded the goal of 5,650 recruits by about 500 people. The Army Reserve also made its first monthly quota since last December, the official said.

But that still leaves the active-duty Army about 7,800 recruits behind schedule to send 80,000 enlistees to boot camp with only three months to go in the recruiting year, which ends on Sept. 30. The Army has not missed its annual enlistment quota since 1999, when a strong economy made recruiters' lives miserable.

Army officials insist that they can still reach their annual goal, especially with hundreds of new recruiters on the street, armed with big enlistment bonuses and greater leeway to recruit more high-school dropouts and lower-achieving applicants.

But privately, senior Army officials voiced skepticism today that the Army could make up the deficit. "If you ask people point-blank, we just don't have enough time left to make it," said an Army official who has been briefed on the June figures but spoke on the condition of anonymity because the Pentagon does not plan to release them publicly until early July.

Here's the rub gang, first if you analyze closely what REALLY happened. They didn't actually hit their quota. What they did was LOWER it to the point were they CAN reach their quota. They are still VERY much behind in their 2005 goal. They would have to average over 9,000 per month to reach their goal of 80,000!!! They can't do 7 grand much less 9!

All they did was try to take some of the heat off they were slowly getting in missing the mark. This is DANGEROUS. Why? Cause any Bush voter with a guilty conscience who was thinking about serving their nation cause we needed them (HA!) will now change his mind. "Why would I join now? Thing seem to be back to normal" NO! Slappy they are NOT!  Bush is fucking with our safety again JUST to save face!

Americans need to understand to win this war and get our guys back home we need SHARED SACRIFICE! They need to understand that we need an exit strategy and our guys need the best equipment. Also requires sending in the PROPER amount of forces our Generals are PLEADING for so they can stabilize that country and get out! Bullshitting us with this Kevin Bacon in Animal House "all is well" bullshit is just plain stupid.

CULT LEADER'S PEP RALLY FOOLS NO ONE

The Cult leader thought that his 9/11 theatrics the other night was going to give him a bump in the polls. That Americans would be swayed by him wrapping his ass up in the flag again. He was wrong:

President Bush’s televised address to the nation produced no noticeable bounce in his approval numbers, with his job approval rating slipping a point from a week ago, to 43%, in the latest Zogby International poll. And, in a sign of continuing polarization, more than two-in-five voters (42%) say they would favor impeachment proceedings if it is found the President misled the nation about his reasons for going to war with Iraq.

Now Gregor may be right when he tells me "Dont get too excited that they may be waking up Span, They did vote for this man..."

True, but even the worst maschochist can take so much...Sooner or later they gotta use the safe word.

HARRY REID ON THE CULT LEADER'S SPEECH

We saw the cult leader's speech at The Rat office's this evening.

It was full of the cult leader's usual bullshit.

Gregor found this particular tidbit hysterical:

Setting an artificial timetable would send the wrong message to the Iraqis – who need to know that America will not leave before the job is done. It would send the wrong message to our troops – who need to know that we are serious about completing the mission they are risking their lives to achieve. And it would send the wrong message to the enemy – who would know that all they have to do is to wait us out

"Nigga please!", he said as he jumped out of his chair. "Thats not what your bitch ass said back in '99 when Clinton had troops in Kosovo!!!:

In 1999, George W. Bush criticized President Clinton for not setting a timetable for exiting Kosovo, and yet he refuses to apply the same standard to his war.

George W. Bush, 4/9/99:

“Victory means exit strategy, and it’s important for the president to explain to us what the exit strategy is.”

And on the specific need for a timetable, here’s what Bush said then and what he says now:

George W. Bush, 6/5/99

“I think it’s also important for the president to lay out a timetable as to how long they will be involved and when they will be withdrawn.”

"What so different now? You Liar!"

"Nothing", I said. "Not a god damn thing. Cult leader bullshittin the country again. Turn on The Mets."

Anyway, Senate Democratic leader, Harry Reid, had something to say about Bush's "speech":

"The President’s numerous references to September 11th did not provide a way forward in Iraq, they only served to remind the American people that our most dangerous enemy, namely Osama bin Laden, is still on the loose and Al Qaeda remains capable of doing this nation great harm nearly four years after it attacked America.

"Democrats stand united and committed to seeing that we achieve success in Iraq and provide our troops, their families, and our veterans everything they need and deserve for their sacrifices for our nation. The stakes are too high, and failure in Iraq cannot be an option."

RED STATE CHICKEN HAWKS

From the "This didn't shock us one bit" files.

The boys at Democratic Underground put together a map that shows were the casualties of the Iraq war are from:

Notice those dark areas out east and west? Ok, now take a look at the SAME MAP when its over laid with the Red/Blue states map of the election (Red being Bush states, Blue being Kerry states):

As Gregor would say "Well, well....well, well, well" What do we have here??

Seems like those so called unpatriotic, flag burning un-American Blue states are actually doing the fighting, while those Red states pro-guns, God and Bible war pigs are sittin on their asses driving around in their SUV with yellow magnets on their fat bumpers.

So for all you red state Bush cult apologists to paraphrase the father of who lost two sons in Iraq, You need to go and enlist and quit whining like bitches about us liberals..assholes

FATHER WHO LOST TWO SONS IN IRAQ TELLS ROVE TO "SHUT UP"

You might cry after listening to this.

He also had a mesage for the Bush voter who has children:

"Sign their daughters sign their sons up cause mine are already gone. We need to replace them. And they need to sign up their daughters and their sons and quit talking about us liberals so much."

(Extra special thanks to Crooks and Liars)

NEW YORK TIMES FINALLY GETS IT

Took them long enough.

NY Times, despite the label of being "Liberal" is just as guilty of being a war pimp as that right wing shit wrapper, the New York Post.

The difference between the two is the Post is a rag that is part of the GOP propaganda machine, the Times was hoodwinked, suckered and they admitted it. Still no excuse cause the Boys at The Rat smelled a scam the moment we heard of talk of war with Iraq.

With that said the Times today schooled America about if you want to get real about Iraq, you gotta start being honest:

To have the sober conversation about the war in Iraq that America badly needs, it is vital to acknowledge three facts:

The war has nothing to do with Sept. 11. Saddam Hussein was a sworn enemy of Washington, but there was no Iraq-Qaeda axis, no connection between Saddam Hussein and the terrorist attacks on the United States. Yet the president and his supporters continue to duck behind 9/11 whenever they feel pressure about what is happening in Iraq. The most cynical recent example was Karl Rove's absurd and offensive declaration this week that conservatives and liberals had different reactions to 9/11. Let's be clear: Americans of every political stripe were united in their outrage and grief, united in their determination to punish those who plotted the mass murder and united behind the war in Afghanistan, which was an assault on terrorists. Trying to pretend otherwise is the surest recipe for turning political dialogue into meaningless squabbling.

The war has not made the world, or this nation, safer from terrorism. The breeding grounds for terrorists used to be Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia; now Iraq has become one. Of all the justifications for invading Iraq that the administration juggled in the beginning, the only one that has held up over time is the desire to create a democratic nation that could help stabilize the Middle East. Any sensible discussion of what to do next has to begin by acknowledging that. The surest way to make sure that conversation does not happen is for the administration to continue pasting the "soft on terror" label on those who want to talk about the war.

And finally:

Americans cannot judge for themselves because the administration has decided to make the information secret. Senator John McCain spoke for us when he expressed his disbelief at this news. "I think the American people need to know," he said. "They are the ones who are paying for this conflict."

That's right America, your ass. You pay the bills AND YOU are ultimately responsible for what happens in Iraq. Congress and the President WORK FOR US. So when you say "Oh I didn't know" bullshit! You didn't want to know! You had to mindlessly "Support the troops" with knowing the responsibilities that come with that.

When you send troops into harms way America, supporting troops is making DAMN SURE their cause is just and our nation is at risk. When you "Support the troops" you demand from your elected officials that our troops are given every single fucking thing they need. They should NEVER have been sent into combat lacking armor! Never been sent in WITHOUT the proper amount of man power! When you "Support the troops" you demand that they basic and combat pay is raised so these men and women knows America appreciates what they are doing. When you "Support the troops", you ensure that their families that are back home are taken cared of, which includes giving the families of National Guardsmen the same healthcare coverage as regular active duty.

When you "Support the troops" you don't want a tax cut, cause tax cuts means our troops are getting shortchanged some where. When you "Support the troops" you want answer to unanswered question. You don't want you elected officials to do your bidding without question. When you support the troops when you find out the war is a lie, you hold those who lied to you accountable.

When you "Support the troops", you demand exit strategy.

And finally when you "Support the troops", if you wanted this war, then you better be willing to fight it or have your children fight it, instead of asking others to do what you wont.

YOUNG RETHUGLICANS ARE BASICALLY: PUSSIES

From Think Progress' coverage of the Young Rethuglicans convention:

College conservatives are rallying in Virginia today for the College Republican National Convention. Our friends at Campus Progress have had a reporter inside all day, and he seems to have figured out why convention officials don’t think pro-war conservatives should be encouraged to enlist.

Apparently, at least according to Tony Perkins, it’s because being a right-wing campus activist is sacrifice enough.

Tony Perkins from the Family Research Council took the stage, noting with courageous enthusiasm, “There are some things that are worth fighting for.” He proceeded to talk about the Iraq War, and some very heroic veterans. … Then he said, “They’re giving their lives as you’re giving your time.”

You know, you’ve got a point there, Tony. Just like our soldiers are dying in Iraq, campus conservatives are stapling flyers for an Ann Coulter speech to a kiosk. Basically the same thing.

You have got to be out yer goddamn mind! Stapling a fucking poster is the same as taking bullets up your ass??? Give me a fucking BREAK YOU FUCKING FUCK!!!!

How in the fuck does one even come close to comparing the two? That is an INSULT to our troops in harms way!

And don't give me that jazz about, how supporting Rethuglican policies is supporting the troops cause according to several veterans groups that's bullshit to:

Joseph A. Violante, legislative director of the Disabled American Veterans, said Perlin's testimony yesterday confirms the veterans' assessment that the administration is "shortchanging veterans."

The Bush administration and House Republicans have been the main focus of anger among veterans organizations.

Their "policies are inconsistent with a nation at war," said Steve Robertson, legislative director of the American Legion. They violate the basic military value of "an army of one, teamwork, taking care of each other," he said.

The administration and Congress, Robertson said, are promoting policies that "subdivide veterans into little groups, the ones that 'deserve' and the ones who 'don't deserve.' "

By the way for all you Bush cult apologists the American Legion is NOT known as the most Liberal vet group in the world either. So don't go down that road.

This beyond crazy! Our nation is in a SEVERE shortage of troops in Iraq and we have millions of able body Bush supporters who can go and fight IN A WAR they believe in..but don't. Insane.

Here, take alook at some of their limp dick excuses from last year's RNC convention:

"Frankly, I want to be a politician. I'd like to survive to see that," said Vivian Lee, 17, a war supporter visiting the convention from Los Angeles,

Lee said she supports the war but would volunteer only if the United States faced a dire troop shortage or "if there's another Sept. 11."

"As long as there's a steady stream of volunteers, I don't see why I necessarily should volunteer," said Lee, who has a cousin deployed in the Middle East.

In fairness at the time we had a trickle of volunteers, but now that that is gone. We expect that Lee will be a woman of her words and take herself down to the recruiting station when she turns 18...Gregor stop laughing at me. I'm believing this young lady.....Dude...DUDE...You pissed your pants!!!! The shit wasn't that funny..Anyway:

"If there was a need presented, I would go," said Chris Cusmano, a 21-year-old member of the College Republicans organization from Rocky Point, N.Y. But he said he hasn't really considered volunteering.

But dude there is! Take a look at this:

In an appeal to the nation's patriotism, the Army's vice chief of staff, Gen. Richard Cody, warns this issue is about far more than military service alone.

"This recruiting problem is not just an Army problems, this is America's problem," he said. "And what we have to really do is talk about service to this nation — and a sense of duty to this nation.")

As we say in Brooklyn; "Man up Negro! Man up!"

We continue:

"I physically probably couldn't do a whole lot" in Iraq, said Tiffanee Hokel, 18, of Webster City, Iowa, who called the war a moral imperative. She knows people posted in Iraq, but she didn't flinch when asked why she wouldn't go.

"I think I could do more here," Hokel said, adding that she's focusing on political action that supports the war and the troops.

"We don't have to be there physically to fight it," she said.

Stop! Stop! Shut the fuck up! What are you talking about? Trashing my patriotism is not by any stretch of the imagination the same thing as humping an M-16 in the desert! How do you have the audacity to compare the two????

This is fighting the war:

The lethal ambush of a convoy carrying female U.S. troops in Fallujah underscored the difficulties of keeping women away from the front lines in a war where such boundaries are far from clear-cut.

The suicide car bomb and ensuing small-arms fire killed two Marines and four others were missing and believed dead. Of the six, three were female Marines and one was a female Navy soldier, military officials told NBC News on Friday. Eleven of the 13 wounded were also women.

Only a godless asshole would even attempt to compare the two...or A Rethuglican, which in most cases is one in the same.

INDEPENDENT WORLD TELEVISION

If you laugh when you hear someone say "Liberal media"

If you're tired of Rethuglicans controlling the airwaves.

If you're frustrated that the media focuses on Runaway Brides and Tom Cruise's love life.

Then Independent World Television may be for us.

A group of courageous people want to give the people of the world NEWS that is not tainted with the stink of corporate influence.

They want to start a television network that is funded and driven by donations from the people, NOT by Agenda driven corporations.

You will hear the O'lieillys and Scum Hannity's of the world attack this. But the bottom-line is if Independent World Television gets off the ground it will be because the PEOPLE wanted it to.

Not cause of fat cats on Wall Street want to make a buck but the PEOPLE want NEWS they can trust!

Check out their video, tell them what you think. That's all they are asking for now.
