The boys at The Rat are happy
that there was not the widespread violence yesterday that many feared. Mind you in any other country
44 people murdered on their way to vote would be on the front page of every paper around the globe. It's considered a "good" day in Iraq, should tell you something. With that said, we're happy things went relatively smooth.
However, excuse us if we do not shed a tear of joy. Excuse us if we refuse to celebrate. Excuse us for not marveling over the election of a puppet Government who's master resides in the White House. Excuse us for not sipping the
purple Kool Aid.
Democracy as
many in the media were so quick to say, was NOT on the march. What we saw, yesterday, was theater of the absurd. A demonstration in futility. An act of courage for the Iraqi voter, a display of chicanery for the Bush cult.
To claim yesterday "election" was democracy is an insult to democracy itself. Or to paraphrase Henry Miller; a gob of spit in the eye of freedom.
Yes, the people did vote. Yes, the mere act of voting in Iraq is an act of bravery we rarely see anymore. Many of those citizens waited long hours, in
lines that rivaled Ohio 2004, just to cast a vote, were sitting duck for the insurgents. The thought of that should bring any freedom loving American to tears. Especially those of us who honor and cherish that all votes should be counted! What the Iraqi people showed the world yesterday was undeniable courage. There heroism bring shame to Americans who sit on their asses on our election day.
The act by the Iraqi people was brave. Yet, their act was another abuse by the Bush cult. What was a noble exercise was perverted by the Bush cult for their own interests. The people did vote, but for whom? Candidates that represent the views of the Iraqi citizenry? Do you honestly think for a moment, with all the blood that has been spilled, with the financial cost our country has bore,
that the Bush cult would allow the Iraqi people to select candidates of their own free will?
Dare they select candidates that would demand the immediate pull out of "coalition" forces? The return of control over their oil fields? Homey don't think so.
While we at The Rat have always questioned the intelligence of the cult leader we never under estimated his addiction to power and greed. The cult leader may not be the smartest man, in fact he may be the dumbest president in recorded history. Yet, he's no fool when it comes to manipulating the American people to interpret his addiction as a force instead of a dangerous vice that is leading our nation to ruin.
Yes, we are happy that the election in Iraq will give some in our country comfort. Some who swallow the swill that is dished out on FOX as "news". They will claim the election is a victory in the "war on terror." That's crap and they know it. They will claim that the election is yet another sign that peace and freedom is on its way. Just as the fall of Baghdad was a sign. Just as "mission accomplished" was a sign. The capture of Saddam was a sign. Just as the hundreds of tombstone placed for our fallen GI's and the
mass graves for hundreds (if not thousands) of Iraqis since
Bush's Top Gun act are signs.
The only victory yesterday, was for the Bush cult, over the American people.
