QUOTE OF THE DAY

"I am left now with a single word seared into my consciousness: accountability. The chance to hold our administration's feet to that flame has passed. But what of our citizenry? We are the ones who truly failed. We shut down our ability to think critically, to listen, to converse and to act. We are to blame.

Even with every prewar assumption having been proved false, today more than 130,000 U.S. soldiers are trying to stay alive in a foreign desert with no clear mission at hand.

At home, the sidelines are overcrowded with patriots. These Americans cower from the fight they instigated in Iraq. In a time of war and record budget deficits, many are loath to even pay their taxes. In the end, however, it is not their family members who are at risk, and they do not sit up at night pleading with fate to spare them."-Dante Zappala

AND IN OTHER NEWS...WE'RE LOSING THE WAR

The guys at Knight Ridder (who by most accounts have been doing the best reporting on the war) said that if the Bush Cult doesn't change its strategy (ie get the fuck out) we might lose the war:

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Unless something dramatic changes, the United States is heading toward losing the war in Iraq.

A Knight Ridder Newspapers analysis of U.S. government statistics shows the U.S. military steadily losing ground to the predominately Sunni Muslim insurgency in Iraq.

The analysis suggests that, short of a newfound will by Iraqis to reject the insurgency or a large escalation of U.S. troop strength, the United States won't win the war.

Military thinkers say insurgencies are especially hard to defeat because the insurgents' goal isn't to win in a conventional sense but to survive until the will of the occupying power is sapped. Recent polls suggest an erosion of support among Americans for the war.

Remember Boys and Girls, this war was never about gaining ground or winning fire fights. We're winning those. No. This war is about hearts and minds. We're losing that war every single day.

WHAT HAVE WE BECOME

I got the heads up for this from an email my brotha from anotha mutha, The Heretic, sent me from Iraq.

I'll let him tell you in his own words what happened:

These kids were in the backseat when their parents came up on a check point to fast for the comfort of the soldiers.

Their parents were both shoot and killed and the men found out afterwards that six children were in the vehicle.

More and more children are becoming orphaned because of violence in Iraq. A large percentage of children in Iraq are beginning to show signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and will never be treated properly.

All a result of living in an environment were hostility has become common place.

 the heretic

I blame this on Bush and the people who voted for him.

They are solely responsible. Not our troops but Bush, the cult leader.

The blood of the dead are on our hands America. Not our troops. Ours. You voted for this mad man. You voted for him and see what he has done in our name.

Are you proud of the "liberty", "freedom" and "democracy" we are spreading?

One day you will face your maker America and God will ask us all but one question in regard to the sin that is the Iraq War:

"Why?"

A PERSONAL NOTE

I have had a few friends in Iraq for a while.

Last Saturday my cousin was deployed to Iraq. He will serve our nation and make us all proud. That the kind of guy he is. He's a good man. He'll protect you America. Thats his job.

Yesterday the cult leader celebrated his coronation, with his two daughters in attendance. As I looked upon the Bush twins looking so lovely in their designer dresses I couldn't help but wonder what my aunt was thinking as she saw that. They dropped 40 million to celebrate that her son is in Iraq.

In a perfect world, my cousin and friends are here with their families and the Bush twins are liberating Fallujah.

God bless you G. Get home safe. We all love and miss you.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

We found this on Daily Kos.

Consider it The Rat's response to the Bush Cult:

"We will fight them, sir, until hell freezes over. And then, sir, we will fight them on the ice."-Raybin of the Daily Kos.

FRIED RICE

Today was the first day of war criminal Condoleezza Rice's Senate confirmation hearing for Secretary of State. If confirmed she replaces out going asshole/liar Colin Powell.

We don't take calling Rice a war criminal lightly. We earnestly mean that, she is a war criminal. A war criminal in the sense that it was part of her bullshit that lead to the Iraq war. Not to mention the countless deaths of Iraqi civilians and American troops.

She is grossly incompetent or worse a mindless lackey for the Bush Cult that places the Cult leader belief a head of the good of the nation.

Rice has as much right being the Secretary of State as I do of being the center fielder for the NY Mets.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Never since his assassination in 1968 have I felt the absence of Martin Luther King more acutely. Where are today's voices of moral outrage? Where is the leadership willing to stand up and say: Enough! We've sullied ourselves enough."-Bob Herbert
